MAEVE MURPHY
Writer-Director - Film, TV

Born in Belfast, Maeve went to Cambridge University (Cambridge Footlights) and co-founded women's theatre company Trouble and Strife. She made the short films, AMAZING GRACE (BFI), SALVAGE (Northern Ireland Screen), and SUSHI (Award winner, Venice Film Festival). Her latest, SIOBHAN, received The President's award (2017 Sochi International Film Festival, Russia).

Maeve has made three Award winning, theatrically released Feature films (UK/ IRL): SILENT GRACE, stars Orla Brady and is the untold story of the IRA women prisoner's Dirty Protest and First Hunger Strike (Cannes, Galway,Taormina, Hamptons and Moscow Film Festivals), winner of the Soka Art Award (Japan) This was shown to acclaim on TV3. BEYOND THE FIRE, co starring Cara Seymour, a controversial romance about love in the wake of rape and religious sexual abuse, was Best UK Feature (London Independent Film Festival) and Best International Feature (Garden State, USA) BBC2 broadcast. Her third feature, TAKING STOCK, a heist comedy starring Kelly Brook won 8 awards in International film festivals, including Independent Spirit Award (Monaco) and The Bud Abbott Award for feature length comedy (Garden State) - available on Sky Store and Netflix.

Maeve is currently developing SIOBHAN for television and a feature biopic based on the true love story between Shane MacGowan and Victoria Mary Clarke. Her documentary short, GLOBAL NETWORK FOR PEACE, about the impact of Hiroshima, was profiled on BBC Newsday/World News in March and screened in select UK cinemas.
